SuperShag Dance Studio

The SuperShag Dance Studio was founded by Chris Johnson, internationally recognized ballroom dance competitor, choreographer and adjudicator. We converted an early 20th century Waltham Theater, with its high stamped metal ceilings into a ballroom dance studio. Knowing Chris’ inclination to the unconventional and edgy, I designed a steam-punk inspired chandelier and other lighting made from industrial materials. The chandeliers are made from large steel woks with bent steel tubing for the armature supporting the bulbs. A twenty foot long wave-form couch was added at the end of the studio. This was the second of four projects, I would eventually create for Chris.
