Waltham House

Architect: Jeremiah Eck Associates

This house is sited on a peninsula at the upper charles river near brandeis university in Waltham. A modest caretaker’s house was razed and a new foundation poured. The house design interprets late 19th and early 20th century forms common to the shingle and cottage style houses in the surrounding suburbs. We value engineered this house from conception substituting commonly available materials and techniques for those that have become prohibitively expensive. The chimney is clad in lead coated copper rather than stone. cedar clapboards are used sparingly with panel and batten siding for large exterior wall surfaces. Windows are strategically located to take advantage of views of the Charles.
